PO Box 372,
To adhere to our mission, to contribute to the well being, and enrichment of our community in an ever-changing environment.
Through a skill sharing model, the Portarlington Neighbourhood House encourages and supports volunteer tutors and facilitators, provides a wide range of affordable, educational, health and well being activities by responding to local wants and needs in a safe and friendly community space for all.
Portarlington Neighbourhood House is an incorporated body run by a voluntary committee of management. The house relies on volunteers to keep the house open. The office is staffed by a group of wonderful volunteers and, other volunteers assist with program design, by sharing their skills with others.
There is a part-time co-coordinator funded with the assistance of the Department of Planning and Community Development. The building is owned by Arlington Masonic Lodge. We, the tenants are supported by the City of Greater Geelong who supports the work of the Centre.
As a Neighbourhood House, we aim to provide a pleasant place for people to visit and meet new people. We aim to be responsive to community needs in providing classes and activities to suit as many different tastes as possible. Check out our current classes to see the variety we have on offer. We are always interested in offering new classes so please contact us if you would like to run one or would like to suggest one.
Office bearers are elected annual at the annual general meeting. Each representative has a selected portfolio that assists with the overall management of the house.
*Both Sue Wilson and Lorraine Stokes are Life Members.
Annual membership is set at $10.00 per annum and is payable by the calendar year.
The Centre also offers room hire and office services at affordable rates. Check out our resources page for more detailed information. Portarlington Neighbourhood House is a member of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres (ANHLC), Barwon Network of Neighbourhood Houses.
